Barrie gives up three picks and Adam Payerl
Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts today announced they have acquired overage right-winger Bryan Cameron from the Belleville Bulls in exchange for forward Adam Payerl, Barrie’s 3rd Round Pick in 2010, Belleville’s 2nd Round Pick in 2011 and Barrie’s 8th Round Pick in 2011. Cameron, a native of Brampton, ON, was originally Belleville’s 1st Round Pick (8th overall) in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection, and has averaged 37 goals through his past three seasons in the OHL. He was drafted in the 3rd Round (82nd overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. The 2008-09 season was his most productive in the OHL where he recorded 37 goals to go along with 44 assists through 64 games. “We feel like we’ve added one of the premiere overage forwards in the OHL in Bryan Cameron,” stated Colts Head Coach Marty Williamson. “He is a legitimate 40 goal scorer, and being a five-year player, we feel his veteran presence will only benefit us throughout the season. To add an overage forward of his caliber is something we are very excited about.” “Adam Payerl is a classy kid, and we have nothing but great things to say about him as a hockey player and a person. Belleville is excited about getting Adam, and he will have a tremendous opportunity to contribute there.” Cameron will play in Barrie’s lineup tonight when they host the Owen Sound Attack (7:30 p.m.) for the first regular season game of the 2008-09 season. The Colts established a perfect 5-0 record during the pre-season, outscoring their opponents 32 to 13.
