WOLVES OVER BARRIE 6-5

November 26, 2011

Gregg Sutch scored his fifth of the season Saturday night

The Barrie Colts were hosting the Sudbury Wolves Saturday night at the Barrie Molson Centre hoping to win their third game in three nights and sixth in a row overall.

The Wolves scored three times in the third and defeated the Colts 6-5.

The Wolves got off to a quick start on rookie goalie Alex Fotinos who was making his first career start before a sold out BMC crowd.

Sudbury scored on two of their first three shots including a nice short-handed effort from Mathew Campagna who deked by the Barrie net-minder.

Moments later it was Michael Sgarbossa setting up Brody Silk to make it 2-0 Wolves.

The Colts fourth-ranked power play failed to capitalize on a pair of 5-on-3 chances, and trailed the Wolves by two, despite out-shooting them 18-6.

The clubs exchanged goals in the second stanza as the Wolves maintained their two-goal cushion after 40 minutes.

Nathan Pancel scored his seventh to make it 3-0 Wolves before the Colts finally solved Johan Mattsson on the power play.

Aaron Ekblad and Mark Scheifele combined to set up Tanner Pearson who extended his point streak to 12 games with his 19th goal of the season.

Sudbury scored twice to extend their lead to make it 5-1 before Aaron Ekblad scored his seventh from Erlich and Locke.

Erlich, making his home debut, then got a chance short-handed and made no mistake as he has goals in back to back games, Ivan Telegin picked up the assist and extends his point streak.

14 seconds later Michael Sgarbossa scored his second to deflate the Colts come back effort.

Norm Ezekiel and Gregg Sutch scored late in the game for Barrie to make it a 6-5 final.
