The Barrie Colts (13-10-2-1) made their first visit of the season to the Harry Lumley Bayshore Arena in Owen Sound Wednesday night to take on the Attack (14-11-2-2).
The Attack now move to 3-0 against the Colts this season after a 3-1 victory. Gemel Smith scored the game-winner just past the midway point of the third period in a frame that was dominated by the Attack.
Owen Sound out-shot Barrie 17-3 in the third and added an empty-net goal for the 3-1 final.
Barrie would surrender a goal on the first shift of the game as Joseph Blandisi made a great one-touch pass to Jarrod Maidens who made no mistake on Mathias Niederberger 41 seconds in to the game.
The Maidens marker was the only goal of the opening period.
Barrie would shuffle their lines in the second period which resulted in the game-tying goal. Zach Hall broke in to the offensive zone and then dropped the puck to Steven Beyers who came in and set up Tanner Pearson for his 20th goal of the season, extending his point streak to 13 games.
With the loss the Colts remain in sixth in the Eastern Conference and are idle on Thursday night. Barrie plays in Erie on Friday and in Niagara on Saturday.
The Colts second ranked power play could not convert against the Attack`s 12th ranked penalty kill as Scott Stajcer turned them aside on all five extra man opportunities.
Pearson is now on a 13 game point streak, just one shy of the season record set by his teammate Colin Behenna. He has nine goals and 18 assists in that stretch.
Reid McNeill sat out of this contest and will be out the entire week after picking up a three-game suspension for his altercation on Saturday against the Wolves.
Alex Lepkowski played for the first time in five games.
