Norm Ezekiel and the Colts look to get back on track this weekend
The Barrie Colts will play three games in four nights this weekend looking to get back in to the win column against the Western Conference, in which they are 9-4-1-1 this season against Western Conference foes.
The Colts will welcome back Clint Windsor and Eric Locke as the Saginaw Spirit make their only trip of the season to the BMC on Thursday night. Tickets.
Windsor and Locke return to Barrie after a trade sent them to the Spirit just two weeks ago. In exchange the Colts snagged defenceman Ryan O’Connor and forward Anthony Camara who have combined for five points in five games played in Barrie.
Windsor has recorded one win for Saginaw in four games played, while Locke has seven points in six games.
Barrie will be looking to snap out of a mini two-game losing skid and collect their second win of the month.
All three opponents the Colts will play this weekend sit no higher than eighth in their respective conferences.
The Spirit currently hold a one-point advantage over the Colts opponent on Saturday night, the Guelph Storm. Tickets.
Guelph sits in ninth in the West but have three games in hand on the Spirit. The Storm make their only stop of the year at the BMC and will be looking to avenge a 8-5 thumping the Colts put on them back on December 9th.
Barrie had a 6-0 lead in that game only to allow the Storm five unanswered goals in 2:38 in the third period.
Mark Scheifele and Ivan Telegin each had four-point nights in that contest, while Tanner Pearson had two goals and one assist.
Sitting in ninth place in the OHL’s Eastern Conference are the Oshawa Generals who the Colts will take on in Oshawa on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
The Generals are just two point out of a playoff spot and welcome the Colts for the first matchup of the season between the two clubs, as they will face off four times in the next 42 days.
The Colts are still waiting to get back forwards Gregg Sutch and Ivan Telegin who are out with injuries, as is goalie Mathias Niederberger who has been replaced by rookie Alex Fotinos in the starting lineup.
