COLTS FINALLY SOLVE THE ATTACK, WIN 5-3

Mark Scheifele led the Colts to their first win of the season against the Attack
The Barrie Colts were hosting the Owen Sound Attack Thursday night looking to knock off the defending champs for the first time this season.
The Attack had won three straight versus Barrie and nine overall in the last two seasons, the most recent coming last Wednesday in Owen Sound.
Clint Windsor got the start for Barrie and backstopped the Colts to a 5-3 win.
Mark Scheifele had two goals, while Tanner Pearson extended his league-best point streak to 16 games with two goals and one assist.
The Colts scored early on, only to have the goal called off due to the net being off its moorings. Moments later the Colts would make one count as Pearson notched his 23rd of the campaign. Eric Locke made a perfect pass to the winger who slipped the puck past Jordan Binnington.
The Attack tied the game on a Mike Halmo marker 4:25 later, then it was Mark Scheifele converting on the power play to make it 2-1 Barrie. Aaron Ekblad and Pearson assisted on Scheifele’s tenth of the year.
Just under three minutes later Scheifele stripped Daniel Catenacci and broke in alone and beat Binnington short-handed on a deke to the backhand.
The Colts special teams extended the lead to 4-1 on Steven Beyers seventh from Alex Lepkowski and Alex Yuill.
The Attack scored the only goal of a fast-paced second period.
The teams exchanged goals in the third period beginning with Pearson’s second of the game and 24th of the year from Telegin and Buonomo to make it 5-2.
Windsor made 20 stops for his second straight victory. Alex Fotinos backed up Windsor, as starter Mathias Niederberger will miss another five games.
