January 12, 2012

Alex Fotinos made 46 stops in Niagara Thursday night

The Barrie Colts made a valiant effort Thursday night in Niagara but came up just short as the IceDogs skated to a 2-1 victory and advance themselves four points ahead of the Colts in the Central Division.

Niagara out-shot the Colts 24-5 in the third period and Freddie Hamilton scored the game-winning goal 12:07 in to the final frame.

Aaron Ekblad had the Colts up 1-0 after the first period when he scored his eighth goal from Zach Hall and Anthony Camara on the power play just over five minutes in to the game.

In the second period the IceDogs squared the game short-handed on an Andrew Agozzino marker at the 16:52 point of the middle stanza.

Niagara came out flying in the third and scored the lone goal off the stick of Hamilton to give the IceDogs the 2-1 win.

Mark Visentin records the win stopping 26 shots.

Niagara will play in Sudbury Friday night before heading to Barrie to play the Colts on Saturday.
